A Faux Granite Bust Sculpture

Starting initially with pages from a book with photographs of an old granite quarry, this work developed alongside other works referencing granite busts, a form of sculpting dating back to Ancient Egypt. Having seen the remnants of the ancient busts at the MET I began to see both as very soft and tender. While this bust is an imitation, a faux granite, the tender feelings and eccentricity of this harlequin character is anything but an imitation.
